"Perek Shira", or "Chapter of Song" is a capsulized encyclopedia of praise to G-d. In it, all the creatures of the universe offer their own unique praises to the Creator, simply, beautifully. We hope that "King David and the Frog," which is adapted from Perek Shira, will open the eyes and hearts of the young (and the child in each one of us) to the wonders of G-d's Universe. All of the verses, although simply written, are based on our sages commentaries on Perek Shira. While there are many secular animal stories and many creation stories, none of them really tell about creation in the manner of Perek Shira. Because Perek Shira expresses the songs of all of G-d's creatures, our sages organized it to correspond to the actual order of creation. Thus, man, the apex of the six days of creation, should apply the lessons as described in Perek Shira to his own life. (Illustrated by Aidel Backman and Yaffa Gottlieb.)
